Al Norte y P’atras/North and Back

(On Visual Narratives and Political Graphics.)

In 2017, I completed a year-long residency at Self Help Graphics and Art, the culmination of which was a solo show in the summer of that year. The work was a fictionalized amalgamation of stories I heard growing up about my father and family’s stories of migration. The series of images was at attempt to tell a story about undocumented migration using only images, and grew from my doctoral research in visual studies at the University of Southern California.
